Animal Nutrition Unit - 7 of 10

Description

Date of original1966DescriptionB&W image shows a small flock of sheep herded forward along a road by a farm dog. These animals are from the Animal Nutrition Unit (ANU) at Invermay. In 1966 the newly established Research Division of MAF approved plans for an appropriate facility for sheep nutritional work. The sheep nutrition building was staffed by Ken Drew, Tom Barry, Syd Duncan, and Gordon Greer with the addition in the early 1970’s of Lynn Cartright and Robyn Harrex as laboratory staff. The decade of the 70’s was a time of great expansion at the ANU both in facilities and staff numbers. A beef cattle stall facility and animal metabolism room were built during 1975, as well as extensions to laboratories and ofﬁces on the north end together with a research slaughter facility, and the ﬁnal stage was a laboratory/ofﬁce wing nearest Puddle Alley.Size of original8 cm (H) X 12 cm (W)SeriesAnimal Nutrition UnitSort Order7ColourB&WLanguageEnglish
