Description

Date of originalcirca 1983DescriptionColour image shows a group of children sitting in their school hall watching a TV screen which is hooked up to a video recorder. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (Animal Health Division), and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals worked together in the early 1980's on a community project that visited schools and community events to educate the public on animal welfare. Outside the school hall a caravan equipped with large information display boards would have been set up, and live animals such as cats and dogs would also have been available for viewing transported in a car (not shown in this image). Scientists from MAF, and Animal Control Officers from the SPCA were on hand to educate the students on subjects such as zoonoses.
