Date of originalcirca 1983DescriptionColour image shows a group of school children taking down notes from the MAF & SPCA Animal Welfare display information boards. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (Animal Health Division), and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals worked together in the early 1980's on a community project that visited schools and community events to educate the public on animal welfare. The caravan shown behind the children carried the large information display boards that could be set up at location, and live animals such as cats and dogs were transported in a car (not shown in this image). Scientists from MAF, and Animal Control Officers from the SPCA were on hand to educate the public on subjects such as zoonoses.
